Arlesford Camera Club
18 Mono Prints & 18 Colour Prints
Judge: Peter Epsley
As the image suggests, we won some and we lost some and Carol’s scoring analysis is below my report.
Like many football matches, it was a ‘Game of Two Halves’, with Arlesford out-gunning us in the Mono Section, which Peter judged first, and Harwich gaining most of the top 20 marks in the Colour section, which was hosted after the refreshments interval.
Peter, as he always does, judged each print fairly and efficiently, and speaking for myself, awarded marks that mirrored my sentiments entirely. That said, his over emphasis and obvious deduction of points for mounts (his term was ‘Matt’) that were not to his liking, became a little too much towards the end of the evening. However, his remarks regarding the title of the image adding a ‘Story Line’, were spot on and very relevant.
This was the first ‘battle’ between the two clubs that I am aware of. Thanks must go to the Arlesford members for hosting the event this year, and the ‘Tea and Biscuits’ during the interval was most welcome. Next year, Harwich will host the event and in the words of George our chairman “Hopefully closer ties between the two clubs will ensue”

8x8 Interclub competition
Colchester Photographic Society
Judge - Julie Hutson
Several members travelled to Colchester to support our club in this highly competitive competition.
The Judge for the night was Julie Hutson, who had a lot of really great images to go through from all different genres of photography. She gave some good comments throughout the night on the images. We managed to hold our own but unfortunately only came 7th. There was just 26 points between the winners and 8th place, quite good out of a total of 160 points. Colchester once again won on the night.

We received a warm welcome from the members of Clacton camera club and had a very enjoyable evening. Alan Sarsby was an excellent judge, with great critique on the images, while keeping a lighthearted atmosphere to the night. He interspersed the night with various anecdotes and really keep the audience engaged, even getting participation throughout the night.
We lost the Dpi section by 4 points while we lost the print section by 3 points. It was very close all the way through, so well done to all those involved for a very close competition.
